So why is this blog here anyway?

Why are you writing this blog?

1. I love names.

2. I like doing investigations into names and needed somewhere to put them so other would be able to enjoy them too.

What is the story behind the blog’s name?
One of my favourite poems is The Naming of Cats by T.S Elliot. You can read the poem here. or watch it being performed as part of the theatre show Cats here. The blog title comes from a section that reads

There are fancier names if you think they sound sweeter,
Some for the gentlemen, some for the dames:
Such as Plato, Admetus, Electra, Demeter—

But all of them sensible everyday names.

What will be posted on the blog?
There will be at least one post every week on topics such as certain names through history, mini investigations, lists of names or a naming 'big question'. 

Who writes this blog?
A girl in her late teens who lives in the UK, loves onomastics, drinking mochas, psychology and the best-named guinea pigs in the world!
